Lindsay Lohan is absolutely not a milkaholic

Xeni Jardin at 1:14 PM March 9, 2010

Lindsay Lohan would like you to know that she is not a milkaholic. To that end, she is reported to be suing e*trade for $100 million over a baby that appears in one of its TV ads. (via @tokyomango)

"Lohan has the same "single-name" recognition as celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Madonna."

Kinda dropped the ball on that one, Jonathan Stempel

Litigi-whaaa?!

Anon #3 13:41 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

Wow, so she seems to think she's still relevant enough that people would allude to her in commercials. That's kinda cute.

There's no way her image is worth more than a cent at this point.

SomeGuy #5 13:54 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

Huh. I've seen that commercial several times and never once associated that milkaholic baby with Lindsay Lohan.

Think maybe it's 'cause the baby isn't flashing her naked crotch?

The brand is damaged and needs to be put to sleep so the rest of the Lindsays out there can once again feel self respect and pride.

I move that she be taken to court and forcefully have her name changed to Booger. And give the Lohans of the world some respite as well.

The only word that comes to mind is...Wow.

If somebody said "Lindsay" in a conversation, I would not know who they were talking about. Since I don't know anybody named Lindsay. And I do not associate the name with Ms. Lohan.

"The E*Trade case is Lohan v. E*Trade Securities LLC, New York State Supreme Court, Nassau County, No. 004579/2010."

Note that it does not say "Lindsay v. E*Trade Securities LLC".

I think this is a hateful and manipulative answer to a serious problem.

Yeah, I also saw the commercial, thought it was obnoxious but kind of funny, and never once thought of Ms Lohan. She should read up on narcissistic personality disorder. It's not always about you, girl.

JohnCJ #13 14:20 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

She does have a point. E*trade has improperly invoked her likeness. Because obviously this lawsuit proves Lohan is nothing but a big baby.

I just can't live without milkahol!

Then why comment at all?

Pretty sure it's Lindsey Graham.

Chuck #17 14:39 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

I'm obviously misguided in my belief that there are other women named Lindsay.

*chants*

"There are no other Lindsays. There are no other Lindsays. Must kill the pretenders."

*gets large knife, exits apartment, hunts for pretenders*

Even if it was about her wouldn't it be considered a parody and isn't that protected?

Cowicide #19 14:57 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

She's just pissed because they mischaracterized her as a milkaholic instead of an alcoholic.

Anon #20 15:04 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

It's a *powdered milk* mustache.

She needs to go back to her old hobby of keeping the drug cartels busy.

That is the weakest in the series of those talking baby commercials. I didn't really think it was funny when I first saw it during the Superbowl. Associating babies with addictions is just stupid. It's just sad that Lindsay went from being such a talented young girl to having issues. I never thought of the commercial as referencing her though, and I've seen it at least twice...maybe three times.

TooGoodToCheck #23 15:26 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

Instead of launching a bullshit lawsuit, she should be using this opportunity to draw more attention to the very serious problem of milk addiction? Did you know that the children of milk addicts are themselves likely to become addicts?

In this country, countless babies are born addicted to milk. it's just. . . so tragic.

cinemajay replied to comment from SomeGuy #24 15:38 on Tue, Mar. 9 Reply

And see, I totally got that it was Lohan. She was the first person I thought of after I saw the commercial at during the Superbowl.

Seeing as how I do my best to NOT think of her whenever possible, I think she almost has a legit argument there.

From wikipedia, people named Lindsay:
* Lindsay Anderson, film director
* Lindsay Armstrong, Australian writer
* Lindsay Brown, Baseball player
* Lindsay Cooper, Musician, political activist
* Lindsay Dawson, artist
* Lindsay Hamilton, Canadian actress and singer
* Lindsey Haun, American actress and singer
* Lindsay Hawker (1984-2007), British murder victim
* Lindsay Hoyle, (male) Labour Member of Parliament for Chorley (England)
* Lindsay Lohan (born 1986), American actress and singer
* Lindsay Price, actress and singer
* Lindsay Taylor, former WNBA player
* Lindsay Wagner, actress
* Lindsey Buckingham, American guitarist, singer, composer, and producer, member of Fleetwood Mac
* Lindsey Cardinale, American Idol contestant, season 4
* Lindsey Shaw, actress
* Lindsey Graham, United States Senator

At least 8 of those lindsay's came to mind immediately when I saw that commercial, and none of them were lindsay lohan.

I hope she sues. I hope they file a countersuit that by publicly associating herself with that ad in falsely claiming it's MEANT to be her, she's damaged their business. I hope Etrade wins, and that Lohan is forced to pay all court costs. Yes, it's one of the few times I'm rooting for the corporations.

Not because I have anything against Lindsey. But that stupidity needs to be punished, and so harshly that nobody else is tempted to repeat it.

Just for fun, the number of Lindsays (and Lindseys) born the same year as Ms. Lohan? 15,004. I say class action suit.

Anon #28 07:02 on Wed, Mar.10 Reply

She will get more fame by doing this, win or lose, PR thing, so well worth it.
People here including me used to say "Linsay who?", will now know Lohan...

The law suit say 4 things ties it to her:
likeness, name, characterization, and personality
So not all Linsay can or want to associate with that.

On top of that, E Trade most likely did target het as a easy picking "by association".

I guess she'll be missing out on going to the Koroba Milk Bar then, for some moloko plus with synthemesc... The droogs will be all horrorshow.
